The Okura is a legend — the 1960s modernist masterpiece (lovingly rebuilt) that defined Japanese hotel elegance. Impeccable service, serene rooms, and a lobby worth visiting even if you’re not staying. The grand-dame splurge of Tokyo hotels.

It’s one of my favorite places in Tokyo. The modern tower lobby transports you to risingn power of 1970s Japan. I highly recommend a stay in the Heritage tower though. The traditional breakfast there is excellent.

Side note: one end of the heritage tower has a view into the USA Embassy / Ambassadord’s house!
